looking at the numbers of those that have signed up so far the numbers are really low.

It will show what all of the changes have done for those normal people how all the changes have taken the fun out of the open for them.

No hype, no build up, no nothing....

Sorry to say this might be a spiral in the wrong direction.

Clean form help

I am having a problem with cleans/power cleans, specifically the hip snap to catch. The problem I am having is that with traditional clean bar hold with the bar when I am standing as straight up as I can even with my shoulders shrugged as high as I can still lands mid thigh (this is thanks to abnormally long arms with a short torso), therefore the hip snap does little to nothing to get the bar in an upward trajectory. I end up having to do a shrug to high pull in order to get the bar up into the appropriate place to catch it. As such it is hard to do much of anything over #95 at my current fitness level. Does anyone have any suggestions how to make a hip snap work for this particular handicap? Thank you in advance.

Gang,
My friend Bruce Young going to the games for second time turned me onto a company. I asked the company rep about CrossFit testing and their products.
Anyone here have any info on this company and testing standards?

Today the open starts. Currently over 250k sign ups with 4 days to go. Many questions and big changes. What are your plans for the open?

Mine are to have fun
One and done
Do it on Friday and stay away from looking at the leaderboard
Be more involved helping the gym with scores of the athletes/members
Try to inspire peeps
Offer encouraging words and cheer them on

My guesses for the workouts -
Some time period segmented workouts- ascending weight each segment passed.
Some of the Girls workouts in variation. Like Diane with a heavy twist last year
Maybe a super simple workout like 7 min single exercise workout like burpees again.
Part A metcon and Part B heavy lift
10:00 amarap of dubs


New movements- Rope climb, pistols (not likely) , Bench press?

Upside of all of the X fit changes?

We know so much about the down version of the competitive side of X fit?

What about the upside? Media roots are growing. More and more athletes are sharing workouts and tips.

The Journal set makes me laugh with the Al Bunch couch.

Anything else?

Over under for amount of open sign ups. Last year was like 400k?

I would think that they are going to go down a bit. Maybe 350 or less.
Upside of all of the X fit changes?

I took the CF Endurance course back in Sept of 2011. I still have all the Original pre-reading sent via emails. However, my notes are long gone.

I'm trying to set up a program for my wife who's going to run a 1/2 marathon in May.

Myself will run the shorter 8KM route.

We will both continue to CrossFit / Lift 4 times a week, and will implement running 1 INT: Interval-based workout and 1 STA: Stamina-based workout per week. (STA on CF rest days)

Since I've lost my notes, I'm looking for INT and STA recommendations. We're weekend warriors do TT efforts are not really necessary.

So far I've found the following:
High-intensity short interval runs build your top-end tolerance, while longer tempo runs and time trials improve aerobic endurance. Perform these workouts at the fastest pace you can sustain for the given effort.

High-Intensity Intervals

Warm up, then do 8x200m intervals. Rest for 90 seconds between each. Run each 200m within 3-5 seconds of each other. Work up to 5x800m.

Warm up, then run 90 seconds hard followed by 1 minute easy. Repeat 6-8 times.

Warm up, then run 1 mile hard. Rest for 5 minutes, then do 2-4x600m with 90-second rest recoveries. Run each 600m within 2-3 seconds of each other.

Warm up, then run hard for 1 minute. Rest for 1 minute. Run hard for 2 minutes, then rest for 2 minutes. Repeat until you’re up to 5 minutes.

Endurance Runs

Warm up with a half-mile easy jog. Then perform a 5K time trial, covering the distance as fast as you can. Cool down with a half-mile jog.

Run a 15K time trial (note: do not run longer than 90 minutes). Begin and end with a half-mile jog.

Run 3x1-mile with 5-10-minute walk recoveries. Keep effort times within 10-15 seconds of each other.

Run a 5-mile time trial. Rest for 5 minutes. Do 2x1-mile at 5K time trial pace with 2 minutes’ rest.



Any ideas, and help getting us started will be greatly appreciated.

We have an unused portion of one of our rigs that we would like to install a basketball backboard and hoop. We are concerned with the stability (wobble) of the backboard. Has anyone done this already that can post a picture of how they mounted it to their rig.
