OK to leave plates on the bar?

Obviously etiquette dictates that you should deload the bar and return plates/bar back to storage for the next person or group.

however, if it's just me in my puny gym (read: room), is it ok to leave the bar loaded? it's not out of laziness to deload the bar, but more as a reminder that i need to lift that sucker. if it's detrimental to the bar, i'll keep deloading. otherwise, is there any harm in it? (besides the occasional shin shocker)
